Tips and Travels

Here is the Day 13 ships activity schedule. A new 4 page newsletter is distributed each day. There is more than enough to to keep us interested and busy with things we like to do but often never took the time to expllore. e.g I joined the ‘GUEST CHOIR’.  A went off to learn ITALIAN, attend lectures about upcoming ports-of-call, as well as at history. We both enjoyed progressive TRIVIA each afternoon with our new found ship-mates (Paul, Christine and Barry from Australia, and Bruce from OKLAHOMA, USA).  Our  team won third place out of the 30 or so teams that took part, thanks to the knowledge of our multi-national team and extra points for the best poem as judged by the Officers on the Bridge. Our volunteer CRUISE CRITIC (CC) organizer/leader, Sharon, arranged a variety of social activities for the nearly 200 people who signed-up for the this cruises roll-call.  These included: first day meet/greet, a gift exchange, slot pulls, a cabin-crawl where we toure...

Whatever did you do on all those many sea days ? There was more than enough to keep us busy, starting at 5 am to catch the sunrise and the warm spa. That js just the start of the day ! Every day brought a new adventure... (continued next page)

The ship sailed from Seattle on October 6th and  arrived in Honolulu early on October 12th. We were ready to get on solid ground. Since we were coming back at the end of our vacation and had seen most tourist attractions before, so we had relaxed day in Paradise. Diamond Head The hotels along Waikiki beach After breakfast we patiently waited for over an hour to get on the the Hilo Hattie shuttle to take us to the world's largest outdoor mall, Ala Moana.  Hint by walking to end of the pier compound to the street one can take a city bus far quicker. All day bus pass is $5 (even less for US seniors). Ask the driver for one .   At the mall we took the city bus to Waikiki to visit a few favourite sp ots in Waikiki, check and sent email at the Hyatt Hotel, then rode another up the coast a bit past  Hunama Bay.  A went back to to the ship while I sampled the $1 beer at  Shirokaya   Japanese Village at the fa...

In the fall of 2017 we travelled to Australia to visit our son, Chris and his wife, Kim. It started with a Transpacific cruise from Seattle Washington  to Sydney. We flew to Seattle the night before. Had a lovely meal at   Sharps Roadhouse  . Next morning we took shuttle to ship at pier 91. This is the view of Mt Ranier from our Hotel near SeaTac airport.
